Modbus tools for testing and integration

ModbusLab currently ships as a Windows desktop application with two implemented workspaces. The pages below describe what the current code does.

Modbus RTU slave simulator

Configure multiple simulated unit IDs, edit their data maps and inspect the Modbus RTU frames exchanged with a master.

Simulator capabilities and requirements

Windows desktop software

Modbus RTU-to-SNMP gateway

Poll RTU values from the internal lab model or a serial bus and expose mapped points through an SNMP agent.

Gateway capabilities and configuration

Product scope: ModbusLab does not currently offer a physical gateway, converter, RS-485 interface or Modbus TCP product. Protocol learning pages may explain protocols that the application does not implement.

Shared requirements

The current desktop package targets 64-bit Windows 10 and Windows 11. Physical Modbus RTU work needs a compatible serial port or USB-to-RS-485 adapter. An external Modbus master must use a separate bus node; one process cannot open a COM port already owned by another application.
